What it solved
Gave the store a catalogue that grows without becoming a maze, and a short checkout with fewer steps to purchase.
Online retail has a trap: the catalogue grows and the site turns into a maze. The structure was built to absorb new categories without rebuilding pages and without breaking navigation for returning customers.
The checkout is short on purpose. Every extra field is another chance to lose someone with the product already in the cart.
